Treating Fibroids

A new treatment called Uterine Fibroid Embolization (UFE) does not require an operation and has been shown to significantly reduce the size of fibroids.

WHAT IS UTERINE FIBROID EMBOLIZATION (UFE)?

Uterine fibroid embolization (UFE) is a less invasive procedure for the treatment of uterine fibroids.

The process typically lasts less than an hour and requires only a small incision into the radial (wrist) or femoral (groin) artery. The procedure is designed to block the blood supply to the uterine fibroids, causing them to shrink. As one of the alternatives to hysterectomy procedures, UFE is clinically proven to reduce the major symptoms of uterine fibroids.

Uterine fibroid embolization (UFE), also known as uterine artery embolization, is a minimally invasive procedure that is performed by an Interventional Radiologist (IR), a doctor who uses advanced imaging technology to see inside the body without surgery. UFE is often performed as an outpatient service and offers a much shorter recovery time than surgery.
